Moving Under the Current of Silent Waves
Medium: Performance for Video
Duration: 2 min. 53 sec.
Moving Under the Current of Silent Waves is a performance for video that considers the body as a site of transformation. Through the act of covering and concealing the body beneath layered textiles, which were collected over time, the work stages a negotiation between visibility and disappearance. Movement unfolds through intuitive and repetitive gestures that register as both painterly and bodily. Together, they consider weight, pressure, and endurance.
The layering of fabric functions as a form of inheritance, materials gathered, carried, and worn until the figure becomes indistinct, no longer easily identifiable as body. Instead of resolving into a fixed identity, the body remains in flux, suggesting a state of becoming shaped by what is placed upon it. The work lives in this ambiguity, allowing the body to exist between form and formlessness, presence and erasure.
