Flat Force
Medium: Archival Pigment Print
Size: 20” x 24”
Flat Force stages Iranian domestic objects—candies, bread, an empty ring box—against white fabric and a white background, borrowing the visual language of product photography. While the setting isolates each object for clear visibility, it simultaneously renders it consumable, aligning cultural material with the aesthetic standards of commercial display.
The work considers how whiteness operates as both backdrop and authority: a neutralizing force that flattens specificity while promising legibility. As color, texture, and context are absorbed into white space, the objects hover between preservation and erasure, questioning what is lost when cultural meaning is filtered through systems of visibility designed for consumption.
