Labor of Possibility
Mixed Media
Materials: tea bags, thread, transparent marbles, wood, string
Deconstructed tea bags that have been intentionally emptied, pressed flat, and stitched back together, become small, flesh-colored pouches, each holding a single transparent marble (only visible when backlit). Suspended from a simple wooden-and-string structure, the work traces repetition, ritual, and the tender labor of care. The pouches evoke fragile potential and the rhythms of waiting, watching the cycles, and vulnerabilities of fertility, as well as the pressure to start a family. Rather than counting down toward certainty or joy, the work holds space for uncertainty, reflection, and the intimate work of tending possibility over time.
